The Spark of Inspiration: From Guitar Hero to Real Guitar Mastery

Have you ever played Guitar Hero? I was hooked on the thrill and satisfaction of nailing each song perfectly. Little did I know, this addiction would change my life forever. My name is Travis Osterloh, and the rush of playing those songs led me to a 10-year self-taught journey that was filled with ups and downs.

A Journey of Struggle and Discovery

Years of on-and-off practice, struggling with guitar tabs and YouTube videos, and countless terrible performances at open mics taught me a lot through failure. However, everything changed when I found a teacher who provided the skills I have today. This mentor believed in me, challenged me, and taught me techniques and principles that I never knew existed.

The Birth of a Passionate Community

During an expensive guitar conference, a one-on-one conversation with my close friend and guitar teacher, Matthieu, shattered my individualistic mindset. He said, "Travis, you’re an excellent player. How come you’ve never thought to teach guitar?" That question planted the seed for Osterloh Guitar Academy (OGA).

Established in March 2021 in Columbus, Ohio, OGA was created to give other guitar players the chance to achieve the success I experienced through years of hard work. Our mission is to build a community of driven and supportive musicians who strive for growth, make connections with like-minded individuals, and support each other through classes, events, and shared experiences.
